How does Freak Shake Endurance Work?
High Carbohydrates: Aerobic conditioning requires a lot of carbs. We can only store enough glycogen energy reserves to fuel about an hour of moderate to intense aerobic output and then we require carbohydrates to replace those depleted reserves. High carb fueling and replenishment is a key factor in sustaining effort and recovering post-workout.
1000+ mg Electrolytes: Freak Shake contains more than 3 times the electrolytes found in leading sports drinks. Our electrolyte blend mimics the electrolyte composition of dairy milk which has the highest researched beverage hydration index in published peer-reviewed data. Using clinical measures of cellular fluid retention, dairy performs better than water or traditional sports drinks, and has an equivalent hydration index to medical oral rehydration solutions. When nature provides a hydration blueprint this good, just follow it!
The Right Amount of Complete Protein for Endurance athletes: High quality protein plays two parts in replenishing us. A modest amount of protein consumed with a high amount of carbs works synergistically to accelerate glycogen synthesis after endurance exercise (about 1g of protein for every 3 to 4g of carbs is optimal). And the protein in Freak Shake supplies essential amino acids needed to help repair & grow new muscle after strenuous exercise.
Freak Shake uses dairy protein isolates in a ratio of 20% Whey and 80% Casein. Both are high quality complete proteins providing all 9 essential amino acids. Whey protein is the most rapidly absorbable protein known, and Casein benefits from being slower digesting but more completely absorbed. Together, they offer rapid then consistent availability that maximizes absorption and minimizes digestive discomfort.
Supplemented for Endurance: Our active plant bio-nutrients help tune your endurance engine at the cellular level. We incorporate Epicatechin, a micronutrient present in hundreds of healthy plants and fruits (ours comes from Green Tea).
