All our products are WADA, USADA, and NCAA compliant. None of the ingredients we source and formulate with appear on these organizations' lists of banned substances or violate their restrictions. We do not yet carry a 3rd party certification seal, but we do random lab testing of our inventory to screen for banned substances and adulterants.
Mostly- There has never been a Freak of Nature without Nature.
Freak Shake products are formulated from natural ingredients and flavors with the exception of the alkalized cocoa in our chocolate products. Cocoa processed with alkali helps make our powdered mix dissolve in water which is why our products taste delicious. We carry a supplement label because one of the functional micronutrients we fortify our products with is epicatechin – a micronutrient that promotes muscle resilience, energy metabolism and recovery. Ours comes from green tea but it is not currently recognized by FDA as a food ingredient.
All our products are produced in facilities that are regulated under the precise and rigorous manufacturing practices required by FDA for supplement manufacturing.
No – We don’t currently a certified Vegan formula, but our FUEL & HYDRATE and GRIT FUEL product lines do not contain any animal based ingredients. Some Freak Shake products that contain protein utilize Dairy Protein Isolates which involved a Dairy Cow before it became a Freak Shake Endurance product. Dairy protein has some advantages in its composition of whey and casein proteins. Both provide a complete amino acid profile. Whey is the most rapidly bioavailable complete protein available and Casein takes a little longer to digest which helps reduce the feeling of bloating for some athletes. Slower digestion also means more complete protein absorption (In other words less protein ends up passing through your system into the toilet…). Stay tuned for more and let us know if you’d be interested in a non-dairy protein formula – it’s definitely on our radar.
Nope – Carbs are our Freaky friends. Our RECOVER and FUEL & HYDRATE drink mix formulas contain high carbs for rapid energy replenishment when endurance training and recovering. (See Sugar Free FAQ). We use Dexrose and Cane Sugar for rapid availability and to maximize glycogen energy replacement rates - definitely not ketogenic!
Nope! If you’re working hard at conditioning and recovering, simple sugar is one of the fastest available natural food source of fructose and glucose that your body can use to synthesize and store energy as glycogen – which is critical to fueling cell metabolism during long or strenuous exercise. Glycogen molecules are stored primarily in muscles and liver for the next bout of exercise. Also, sugar makes Freak Shake taste awesome, and let’s be honest – if you’re working this freaking hard, you deserve something that actually tastes good. Attaching small rewards to your training (like something delicious) is a proven powerful performance habit.
It depends. Freak Shake FUEL & HYDRATE and GRIT FUEL products do not contain any dairy based ingredients that could contain lactose. Our RECOVER and GAIN GROG PROTEIN drink mixes do contain dairy protein isolates and therefore are not lactose free.
Yes- Freak Shake products carry a Supplement Label in order to comply with more precise manufacturing standards regulated by FDA compared to food-labeled products. We also fortify our products with a naturally occurring plant bio-nutrient we get from green tea called Epicatechin. Epicatechin is not recognized by the FDA as food ingredient even though it is present in many healthynatural fruits, vegetables, and plants like coffee, tea and cocoa.
Yes – All Freak Shake products conform to FDA supplement sourcing, manufacturing, and labeling regulations. They are produced in U.S. facilities that are 3rd party audited and certified under FDA’s “Current Good Manufacturing Practice” (CGMP) guidelines for supplements. All our products are lab tested before they reach our warehouse for delivery to our customers.
